English: Hawthorn Hedge Section of a Hawthorn hedge. This hedge show signs of having been managed in the traditional method of cutting part way through the stems and then pushing them down and interweaving them at the base of the hedge. Growth then continues but the base of the hedge forms an impenetrable boundary. This hedge appears not to have been managed in this way for many years now and is thinning out.
